“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to carry the Singapore flag at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. If you had told me years ago, after my accident, that I would one day be leading Team Singapore on the Commonwealth Games stage, I probably would not have believed you. This moment means a lot to me. It is not just about carrying the flag, it is also about representing Singapore, the para sport community, and everyone who has supported me along the way. My teammates and I have worked hard to get here, and we are incredibly proud to wear the Singapore colours. I hope our story reminds people that no matter what challenges life throws at you, there is always a way forward if you refuse to give up.”
His Excellency Nik Mehta, British High Commissioner to Singapore, said:
“We are proud to host the Commonwealth Games, once again in the vibrant city of Glasgow. For over 80 years, across 18 host cities, the Games have been a wonderful celebration of the values we share, our ongoing friendship, and excellence in sport.
“It is a privilege to host Singapore’s flag bearer ceremony at Eden Hall, and meet some of Singapore’s very best athletes. The dedication required to compete at this level is inspirational. We wish them the very best as they head to Scotland. I hope they can enjoy not only Scotland’s world-famous hospitality, but also the friendships and memories that make the Commonwealth Games so special.”
